Job Summary/Basic Function: Provide one on one and small group tutoring to current Texas A&M University-San Antonio students from across academic disciplines. Professional Tutor will participate in weekly or bi-weekly meetings with other Writing Center staff. Professional Tutor may also lead brief classroom presentations and/or workshops. Professional Tutor will assist with signing students in/out of Tutoring Center and utilizing tracking database.

This position is for fiscal year 2017 (fall 2016, spring and summer 2017 semesters). Renewal is based on funding and/or academic need for fiscal year 2018.

Work Hours: 10 hours per week and may include weekend and evening hours.

Education

Necessary Qualifications: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's level course work.

Experience

Necessary Qualifications: Successful completion of writing intensive courses.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous tutoring or writing center experience.

Other Requirements or Other Factors

Other Qualifications for Posting: Necessary
Can demonstrate the ability to talk with other writers about writing. Must have an active writing life. Must be a strong reader.

Preferred
Experience with scheduling software. Ability to work cooperatively with others and provide excellent customer service to students, employees, and the community. Ability to multi task.
