Shippensburg University is currently searching for an Executive Director of Social Equity.   Anticipated starting salary range is $82,000 to $110,000 annually including an extensive benefits package and tuition waiver for employee and dependents.

The Executive Director will serve as the principal advisor to the President, the Provost and all members of the University community on issues of equity, diversity and inclusion.  Responsibilities will include all aspects of the administration, implementation and evaluation of programs related to progress and compliance with Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 503/504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, The Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, Executive Order 11246, the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Plan (PASSHE), Shippensburg University’s policies and other acts, laws and regulations related to nondiscriminatory conduct.  The Executive Director will provide oversight, investigation and resolution of complaints pertaining to discrimination or harassment. The Executive Director will develop, implement and monitor the University’s Affirmative Action and Social Equity Plans.  In addition, the Executive Director will monitor search procedures for faculty and senior management University positions and will develop and conduct training for faculty, staff, administrators and students on equity, diversity and inclusion.

The historic borough of Shippensburg is in a small town setting in the growing region of south central Pennsylvania, at the conjunction of two major highways, Interstate 81 and 76.  Located in the picturesque Cumberland Valley, Shippensburg is 45 minutes from Gettysburg and the state capital of Harrisburg, one hour from Hershey, PA, and 2 hours from Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.

Qualified candidates must have a Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum of three years of leadership experience in AA/EEO/ADA/Title IX compliance issues. In addition, qualified candidates will have extensive knowledge and training in equity-related legislation and regulations, including EEO, affirmative action and diversity.   Qualified candidates must also have experience in fostering diversity and inclusion in a complex organization and experience in complaint/conflict resolution.  A Ph.D., Ed.D., J.D. or other relevant terminal degree is strongly preferred as well as five years of experience.  Experience in a higher education setting and/or a collective bargaining environment is also preferred. Successful performance in an on-campus interview and presentation are required.
