Vice President for Academic Affairs

East Georgia State College (EGSC), a member of the University System of Georgia with over 3,000 students, provides affordable access to high-quality post-secondary education. EGSC offers bachelor’s degrees targeted to unique areas of regional need and associate’s degrees.  The college has three campuses – Swainsboro, Statesboro and Augusta.  Residential housing and intercollegiate athletics are available on the Swainsboro campus.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer of the college.  The deans of the college’s three schools, in addition to directors of the library, advisement, Academic Center for Excellence, Teaching and Learning, Counseling and Disability Services, Institutional Research, and African American Male Initiative report directly to the VPAA.

The ideal candidate will have a deep respect for the access mission of the college and the students it serves.  In addition, the ideal candidate will have an established record (at least 5 years) of success in senior level academic affairs leadership, budgeting, accreditation, strategic planning and academic policy development/oversight.  The ideal candidate will be an innovative, creative leader with excellent communication skills who understands trends in higher education including distance learning, competency based education and the changing financial model of public higher education and whose record demonstrates collaboration, transparency and inclusivity. 

An earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree and a record of teaching and scholarship commensurate with appointment as a tenured full professor is required.
