    Applications are invited for a postdoctoral scholar position in astronomy at the University of California, Irvine. The postdoctoral researcher will work with Prof. Aaron Barth at UCI on observational studies of active galactic nuclei and their host galaxies, including new projects with Hubble Space Telescope data and ongoing reverberation mapping programs. Desirable qualifications include experience in optical spectroscopy and imaging; research experience and interests related to quasars and active galactic nuclei, super massive black holes, or related topics; and an ability to work well in a collaborative environment.

    The appointment can begin as early as spring 2017, with a negotiable starting date. The initial appointment will be for one year, with a possibility of extension to longer terms contingent upon availability of funds and successful performance. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics prior to beginning the appointment. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
