The University of Mary invites applications for a full-time position in Biology to begin fall 2017. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and rank. A Doctoral degree is required by the time of employment. A degree in medicine is welcome.
We are seeking an individual who can help to take our pre-medical program to the next level. Pre-medicine has been the largest professional program in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Mary. We are interested in building the program into a center of distinction which provides students an environment that integrates medicine into a deeper understanding of the human person and a culture of life. This individual would need to engage and work with doctors and medical schools. The appointment would include teaching a range of lower and upper division courses in biology as well as providing advising for our pre-medical students.
The successful candidate will understand, support, and advance the liberal arts, excel in teaching at the undergraduate level, and have an active research agenda. All faculty are expected to demonstrate a willingness to support and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission and identity of the University of Mary (see www.umary.edu/about/mission/missionidentity.php).
Required qualifications include:
- A Doctoral degree by the time of employment
- Upholds and promotes the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.
- Supports the on-going implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.
- Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the School of Arts and Sciences and throughout the university in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ.
