Job Description
The Gynecologist provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating of clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs. Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources. Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs. Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments. Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care. Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients. Orders studies, test and ancillary services. Performs surgical procedures as needed. Documents all services in patient electronic medical record. Reviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention. Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues. Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the health center. Oversees mid-level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff. Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations. Participates in other medical staff duties as directed. Works cooperatively and productively in a multi-disciplinary group practice setting, which includes medical, mental health, nursing, ancillary, health and wellness and sexual health and violence prevention programs. Individual is required to undergo PEER review quarterly to maintain credentialing and privileges. Position may be required to teach or lecture within specialty area.


Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from accredited medical school and completion of internship or 1 year residency training. Licensure or licensure eligible to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina.
Must be Board Certified in specialty area of gynecology and maintain certification throughout employment. Licensure or licensure eligible (unrestricted) to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina (or eligible). DEA Certificate required. Must obtain and maintain clinical privileges as outlined by the Medical By-Laws. Must have or obtain CPR and ACLS certification.


Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - Graduation from accredited medical school and completion of internship or 1 year residency training, and 2 years experience in medical services programs. Demonstrate experience and success implementing quality initiatives and moving an organization to embrace comprehensive improvement in outcomes, patient safety, etc. Evidence of potential for providing outcomes based medical care.
