Position Summary: The Division of Pharmacoengineering and Molecular Pharmaceutics (DPMP; https://pharmacy.unc.edu/divisions/dpmp/) in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is seeking to fill a 12-month tenure-track, open rank position. The selected candidate will have an appointment in the DPMP and will be eligible for membership in the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC), the Carolina Institute for Nanomedicine and the Center for Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery, as well as many other institutes or centers located on UNC campus. Also, UNC is in proximity to Duke University, Research Triangle Park, and North Carolina State University who often organize and collaborate in efforts with UNC faculty. These efforts include symposium, seminars, and conglomerate groups including North Carolina Biotech Center (www.ncbiotech.org/) and NCTracs (tracs.unc.edu/). Additionally, technology development services are available through Eshelman Innovation Institute, NC Biotech Center, NCTracs and Carolina Kick Start (innovate.unc.edu/). The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is the #1 ranked pharmacy program in the nation (U.S. News & World Report), and one of five health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health, and Medicine) at the Chapel Hill campus. DPMP promotes human health through innovative drug, imaging, and vaccine delivery research and education. DPMP's external research support exceeds $8.5M annually, and DPMP faculty have successfully spun off seven biotech companies in recent years. DPMP is home to both the NCI-funded Center of Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence and the Carolina Cancer Nanotechnology T32 Training Program. The School is currently undergoing aggressive growth and expansion. We have recently launched the Eshelman Innovation Institute (unceii.org/), funded by a $100M commitment from Fred Eshelman, to accelerate development of innovative ideas in the school. UNC is also home to Qura - a partnership between UNC and GSK that created the first HIV Cure Center dedicated to finding a cure for HIV/AIDS. The successful candidate will play an active role in this growth, while maintaining the School's reputation of excellence in research and teaching.

Education Requirements: Candidates will have a Ph.D. degree in an Engineering discipline, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline.

Qualification and Experience: - The ideal candidate will have research expertise in drug delivery and pharmaceutics, including the emerging field of pharmacoengineering. - The ideal candidate will have already established a highly competitive independent research program, or possess the clear potential to do so, while demonstrating the ability to create and maintain a highly collaborative research team. - The successful candidate must have a strong track record of publications and collaborations demonstrating innovation, breadth of experience and potential, and an interest in translating novel technologies into clinical investigation. - Candidates will also be expected to contribute to the research and graduate training program and the professional program in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.
