The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Senior Professional Coder. The individual in this role will be responsible for reviewing the clinical documentation contained in the UHealth patient health records (regardless of medium in which the patient documentation is maintained) to validate the codes assigned by physicians. Responsibilities include validating and, as necessary, applying E&M, diagnostic, and procedure codes for surgical specialties, interventional radiology and/or cardiology, critical care, trauma, and other specialties that are predominantly invasive. This role require a clear and thorough understanding of ICD-9/ICD-10-CM diagnostic and CPT E&M and procedural codes used in reimbursement and data collection. Perform other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three years of professional coding experience. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Office (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder (CIRCC), or Radiology Certified Coder (RCC). Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority.
