The Division of Information Technology Services is currently seeking a talented AV design individual to fill the role of Senior Media Design Consultant. As part of the of the Network and Telecommunications Services Department, the Senior Media Design Consultant is responsible for the consultation and design of media solutions offered to the University community, including conference and event services, digital signage, and video conferencing. This position is responsible for designing, planning, implementing and managing AV solutions that can span the entire University. This person will serve as liaison for internal customers, and manage AV initiatives for new installations of media technology, signage or conferencing equipment. Working with ITS Customer Services, Network and Telecommunication Services, the functional area customer, Facilities teams and external vendors, this person will perform site walk-throughs, explain policies and procedures to customers, design media/AV solutions and oversee initiatives from start to finish. This role also includes overall service management: working with various stakeholders to develop policies and procedures, providing initial support and training to customers for these services, coordinating with internal service to ensure excellent end-user support, and maintaining internal and end-user documentation.

The Senior Media Design Consultant will participate in university-wide initiatives as a representative of the Information Technology Services organization. This person will also participate in establishing standards for multimedia systems. This individual will need to develop and nurture relationships with faculty and staff to provide information on current and future technology selection and use. To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee will be required to work outside his/her regular working hours as needed.


The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of commensurate experience consisting in consultation, design and delivery of technology solutions in a client centric organization. Candidate must have proven task/project management skills, including the use of project management tools. Media certifications such as CTS, CTS-D, RCDD, a plus. This individual will need to have experience with Natural User Interface / Interactive technologies such as Touch-screens and Microsoft Surface devices. Also experience with Unified Communications technologies such as Microsoft Lync and OCS. Demonstrated experience with streaming and recording technologies. Experience with Video tunnels, iPads, iPhones, wireless technologies, self-service conferencing, digital signage, wall displays, and Cisco IPT. Finally an understanding of video and audio bridges, gateways and gatekeeper systems. Experience with and a strong interest in video security, signage, and/or conferencing technology, or audio/visual installation/integration is highly desirable. Technology installation design and familiarity with electrical, networking, and other facility infrastructure components preferred. A working knowledge of network connectivity, personal computers, Macintosh, and Microsoft applications is required. Finally, familiarity with instructional technology with an emphasis on technology integration into a variety of teaching and learning pedagogies is required.

Must demonstrate initiative and be innovative, service-oriented, self-motivated, flexible, and attentive to detail. Candidate must possess demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and follow through on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and to work effectively as both a leader and participant in a team environment with a diverse staff and user community. Demonstrated leadership, team participation and client relationship skills.
