The Landscape and Grounds Manager is responsible for supervising and administering the maintenance and construction of the exterior campus environment. This environment includes: campus landscapes, parking facilities, pedestrian walks, streets, athletic fields and related support equipment such as irrigation systems. This individual is responsible for the management of all landscape and grounds personnel according to college policy and procedure. The Manager is active on campus committees and task forces as well as horticultural related community and trade organizations. The Manager is directly involved and participates in the planning of improvements to the exterior campus environment to make the campus safer and more aesthetically pleasing to students, faculty/staff and the public.

Plans, develops, schedules, directs and monitors progress of groundskeepers engaged in routine ground maintenance activities and all activities related to the maintenance of the campus exterior environment Schedules assignments to be completed in a timely manner. Supervises the construction of campus landscapes, irrigation systems and sidewalks; coordinates equipment, personnel, contractors and craftsmen from other departments for timely completion of each project.  Administers turf and landscape ornamental pesticide management program by monitoring campus landscapes for potential pest problems The procurement of the necessary pesticide if required, application of the pesticide, and assurance that all pesticides are properly and safely used according to trade practices and government regulations

 REQUIRED JOB SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

High School Diploma/GED

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Three years’ experience working in the Landscaping Trade

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Maintains possession of a valid commercial pesticide applicator's license.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Requires general knowledge of various craft areas.  Ability to perform physical labor to include but not limited to lifting, pushing/pulling objects up to 50 pounds, climbing and working from ladders and performing manual labor tasks for extended periods.  Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.  Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
