Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (www.ise.ncsu.edu) is one of only five named industrial and systems engineering departments in the United States and is consistently ranked among the top programs in the country. The primary purpose of the department is to provide a sound fundamental education to undergraduate and graduate students (both Masters and Doctoral) and to conduct basic and applied research in emerging areas of industrial and systems engineering. The department currently has four areas of concentration in teaching and research: human-systems engineering, production systems, manufacturing, and systems analysis and optimization. The department houses two state funded centers, The Ergonomics Center of North Carolina (www.theergonomicscenter.com), and the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics (camal.ncsu.edu). The department also supports two other academic programs, Operations Research (www.or.ncsu.edu) and Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering Institute (www.imsei.ncsu.edu). The department is heavily involved in outreach activities to industry and plays a vital role in fulfilling the mission of the College of Engineering and University. The department has a global reach, providing special courses for international universities, exchanging students and faculty internationally and participating in international conferences. NC State University is located minutes from Research Triangle Park, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Furthermore, NC State has its own university/industry research campus (centennial.ncsu.edu), providing ample opportunity to interact with diverse industrial and research organizations as well as other outstanding universities.

Essential Job Duties: The Director of Undergraduate Programs serves as the face of the department representing the department to internal and external constituencies including the coordination of industrial relations, Open House (university and college), departmental visits, and educational outreach for K-12 audiences. In this role, the Director administers the undergraduate program including the Minor and is expected to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses including capstone senior design; schedule courses; advise, mentor, and recruit students into the department; and assist in communications and marketing efforts of the department.

Minimum Education/Experience: Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, or related field.

Department Required Skills: Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Candidates with a doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering or related field and a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering with two or more years of industrial experience in the service or manufacturing sectors is preferred.
