Posting Information: The Associate Director of Career Integrated Learning within the Career and Professional Development Center oversees the creation of career and professional development functions and activities including: career events, career and vocational testing, career engagement in the classroom and assessment of student career integrated learning. The Associate Director will work to engage the student community in career planning and development and ensure student career integrated learning has taken place during a student's time at Western Carolina University. The Associate Director works with current students and alumni, employers, and with academic and student service units across the university. Responsibilities: - Assist students as they connect with employers/graduate schools - marketing themselves for jobs and/or graduate school through teaching job search skills (resume, cover letter, interview skills); assist in the opportunities for internship experiences, career fairs and events, on and off campus. - Counsel students in purposeful selection of careers through knowledge of vocational testing, awareness of WCU majors and of corresponding or similar jobs in the real world. - Raise students' and the campus' awareness of the Center for Career and Professional Development through the regular teaching of a 1st year USI or LEAD course, public speaking engagements in classrooms, developing relationships with academic and administrative departments - Supervision of the Peer Mentor program of undergraduate students who assist in counseling students during drop-in hours on resume writing and cover letter writing - Connect and collaborate with Alumni Affairs to develop shadowing programs for students - Liaison to the College of Arts & Sciences to develop faculty relationships and design and deliver classroom presentations - Service to the university through participation in decision making groups, task forces, and advisory boards
Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: Master's degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, Higher Education or related required. Degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution. A minimum of three years of work experience in career services, career development, counseling or related program, is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Supervisory experience and college teaching experience are preferred.
