The Department of Respiratory Care at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level with responsibilities in didactic and clinical instruction. Clinical teaching assignments will be specific to the Austin area with didactic responsibilities on the Texas State campus. Areas of expertise include: anatomy & physiology, ECG & CXR interpretation, pharmacology, pulmonary pathology, neo/pediatric care, critical care, ventilator management/airway management, pulmonary rehabilitation, PFT testing, polysomnography, web-based and traditional teaching, and evidence-based RC practice with documentation of recent clinical proficiency. Teaching, scholarly and service are required for this tenure-track position. Opportunities for supervision of student research and collaborative research exist. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Texas State University provides competitive research support. Position will require teaching on the San Marcos campus Fall 2017 through Spring 2018 and then on the Texas State University Round Rock campus thereafter.
Minimum of three years experience in respiratory care, eligible for RCP licensure in Texas, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential, master’s degree in a related field. Documentation of recent clinical competency and demonstrated experience in clinical teaching in respiratory care is required.
Ph.D. in a related field; didactic and clinical teaching experience in respiratory care; clinical specialization/expertise/credentials in recognized areas of critical care, pediatric/neonatal, asthma education, pulmonary rehab, PFT/diagnostics, polysomnography or other recognized areas; on-line/web-based course preparation expertise; professional membership with service in healthcare organizations; and evidence of scholarly activities or research agenda.
