University Housing - Residential Student Experience
Receptionists are the initial contact for any person contacting for any person contacting University Housing. It is the Receptionist who, in receiving guests and/or telephone calls, creates a welcoming atmosphere of professional and courteous assistance.
Receptionists are additionally responsible for multiple tasks included, but not limited to: serving as an information resource about FSU and University Housing, receiving deliveries, performing administrative functions, supporting the staff in the event of emergency situations, and serving the needs of our clients.
This position requires compliance with University confidentiality policies.
A high school diploma or equivalency and must be a full-time student at Florida State University.
Ability to work the week of official hall opening prior to classes beginning, finals weeks, and during breaks (Thanksgiving for all halls and Winter/Spring and inter-sessions for 12 month Halls [McCollum, Ragans, Rogers and Traditions]).
Meetings throughout the semester, as announced by supervisor may be necessary.
Additionally, Receptionists may not work more than a total of 40 hours per week, in combination with any other University-related employment and may not be employed by any other department within University Housing. Federal Work Study awards may be applied to Receptionist positions.
Receptionists are appointed on a semester basis, as long as job performance is at the expectation of his/her supervisor. At time of hire and throughout appointment, Receptionists must maintain a 2.5 undergraduate or 3.0 graduate GPA and full-time enrolled student status.
All students who become top candidates for this opening must be in good conduct standing with the University.
It is important that any person assuming the responsibility be very knowledgeable in the specific functions of the position.
Anticipated Salary Range
$8.10 per hour, effective 1/1/17 for new minimum wage requirements.
Hours are flexible, but all Receptionists should plan to work both weekday and weekend shifts as available and negotiated with his/her supervisor.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
