Job Description
I. Patient Care 80%
a. Critical Care Medicine non-tenure track Assistant Professor with at least 90% of clinical practice in the Intensive Care Units. Clinical duties are expected to be a minimum of 185 days per year, including weekend coverage. Weekend coverage and night call will be shared equally with other division members.
b. Care for patients at alternative sites when necessary (such as but not limited to PH Baptist, PH Parkridge or Kershaw County Medical Center).
c. Participate in approved divisional incentive programs.

II. Teaching 10%
a. Attending physician: MICU, ICU Consult service and outpatient services. Teaching is expected during the interactions with trainees on these services.
b. Participate in educational activities within the PCCM division, the Department of Internal Medicine, and PH GME programs.
c. Assist in the development of a Critical Care fellowship.
d. Oversee Quality Assurance and education projects with the code/rapid response system.
e.Assist in the development of Simulator training scenarios in critical care for students, residents, and fellows.

III. Research, Scholarship-10%
a. Develop research protocols in health care disparities, pulmonary and critical care or the teaching of these to our students, residents, and fellows. Attempt linkage with other division or USC SoM investigators.
b. Submit papers related to Quality Assurance and educational projects associated with the code/rapid response system.
c. Contribute to CCM body of knowledge and participate in the education of trainees.
d. Participate in the division's teaching, research, and scholarly activity point system to become eligible for a "Scholar's Bonus." Contributions to scholarly activity will be included in annual performance evaluations.


Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have graduated from a ACGME accredited Internal Medicine residency and be board certified or board eligible in Critical Care Medicine. In addition, the applicant must qualify for South Carolina Medical Licensure.


Preferred Qualifications
Research productivity is desired.
