We are searching for individuals to fill two twelve-month Clinical Instructor positions with the University of Missouri (MU) to serve as principal support coaches for a Department of Justice funded research project to be implemented in the 2017-2021. Although MU is the recipient of the grant, the project will involve middle and high schools in the Puget Sound Region in Washington State (Pierce and King Counties). The coaches will be based in the Puget Sound region and will spend time on the campus of secondary schools (middle and high) in this region. Additionally, coaches will be in direct communication with the lead trainer and the principal investigator on a periodic basis over the four years of the project.
(1) Provide support to building level administrators in the implementation of Start on Time: Save Transitions and Reduced Tardies and the development and implementation of positive behavior support described in Leadership in Behavior Support Administrator’s Guide;
(2) Attend and help plan and coordinate building administrator and team trainings;
(3) Provide ongoing consultation to principals and school-based problem solving teams in middle and high schools as they implement these programs;
(4) Coordinate and implement data collection in participating schools;
(5) Coordinate communication among all project partners, and ensure compliance with all regulations and requirements.
This position will be housed in the Department of Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology (ESCP).
• Masters level, Specialist, or Doctoral degree in School Psychology, Social Work, School Counseling or a related field
• Experience working in schools, implementing evidence-based practices and services
• A valid driver’s license and mode of transportation to travel to the sites identified in the project.
Candidates will be evaluated on the following factors:
• Skills in conducting non-evaluative, non-judgmental observations of school environments and providing accurate reports that reflect these observations.
• Exemplary communication skills (writing, speaking and listening).
• Ability to plan, schedule and follow through with commitments.
• Experience in developing, implementing and sustaining school improvement efforts.
• Data literacy and the use of data to inform decision making for behavioral and academic interventions.
• Experience developing structures that support management and instruction at the classroom and school level as well as designing and implementing effective interventions for students.
• Experience fostering a positive school climate and learning environment that is attentive to local culture.
• Experience fostering staff collaboration through effective staff meetings and/or school leadership teams.
• Experience with the development and support of principals as instructional leaders through the use of such tools as regular walkthroughs, precision goal setting, and school-wide initiatives.
• Successful experience with Start on Time and Foundations preferred.
Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
