Position Summary

UNCG School of Education is a vibrant and inclusive learning community that embodies access, equity, diversity, cultural relevance, and collaboration in teaching, research, service, and community engagement. Our programs offer real-world knowledge to prepare students to be successful professionals.

Reporting to the Dean of the School of Education, the Director of Assessment has the overarching responsibilities of providing leadership of program-level and unit-level assessment for continuous improvement, the oversight of data systems related to the School of Education's growth, and serving as a key member of the Office of Assessment, Evaluation, and Research Services (OAERS), which is housed within the Department of Educational Research Methodology of the School of Education. The specific duties of this position center on leadership and support of three primary areas.

Area 1. This position will provide support to individual departments and programs in establishing assessment plans and collecting relevant data to support the assessment of student learning outcomes as evidence of institutional effectiveness in regional accreditation and discipline-specific accreditation processes. This position will offer support to departments and programs on the process of assessment development, the collection of data, the psychometric properties of assessments, and the reliability and validity of the obtained scores.

Area 2. This position will oversee data management for capturing, monitoring, and reporting key metrics of student access and success, including student enrollment within School of Education academic programs, retention and graduation rates, and other metrics of student learning, student success, and faculty engagement.

Area 3. As a key member of OAERS in the Department of Educational Research Methodology (ERM), this position will work collaboratively with faculty of ERM and other members of the OAERS team to engage in funded projects and grants pertaining to assessment, measurement, evaluation, and data analytics.

Although this position reports to the Dean, much of the activity of this position will be conducted within, and in coordination with, OAERS, which is housed within ERM, an internationally recognized leader in educational measurement and evaluation that offers M.S., M.S./Ph.D. and Ph.D. programs preparing graduate students for top-tier positions in academia and the private sector. Hands-on, practical learning experiences of students in ERM are facilitated and supported by OAERS, which secures grants and funded projects related to assessment, evaluation, and data analysis on which ERM students work as part of their training.
