Job Description Summary
Southwestern Michigan College, a two-year college located approximately 30 minutes north of South Bend, Indiana, and approximately 30 minutes from Lake Michigan’s eastern shore is seeking applications for a full-time Mental Health Nursing Instructor.
The primary responsibilities of this position include, theory and clinical components of teaching in Mental Health/Psycho-social Nursing.
Master’s degree in nursing
Unencumbered nursing license and experience in clinical nursing practice.
Prior teaching experience preferred.
All applicants must demonstrate the ability to promote active and collaborative learning through a variety of teaching methods, as well as relate to students.
Excellent organization and communication skills as well as the demonstrated use of instructional technology are required.
Successful candidates must also demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and collaboration.
All applicants must exhibit knowledge of computer and technical skills commensurate with subject area.
Special Instructions to Applicants
Clinical locations currently include Kalamazoo and St. Joseph in Michigan and South Bend, Indiana. Clinical times are scheduled two days a week throughout the semester.
Nursing courses are held two days a week on campus for the theory component and two days a week at the clinical location for the clinical component.
