Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia Department of Chemistry invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the group of Prof. Robin T. Garrod. The group is active in the field of computational astrochemistry, with particular interests in the chemistry of star and planet formation, the production of complex organic molecules in the interstellar medium, and in advancing new techniques for the exact simulation of dust-grain surface/ice chemistry.

This is a one-year appointment; however, the appointment may be renewed for an additional two one-year increments, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.

The completion of a Ph.D. degree in chemistry, physics, astronomy, or related field by the starting date of the appointment (tentatively November 25, 2016) is required. The candidate must have experience in astrochemistry, interstellar physics, or molecular radio-astronomy, and familiarity with chemical kinetics codes is required. The candidate must also be able to supervise graduates and undergraduates in astrochemistry.
