Responsibilities:

The Sr Assoc Dir-Brand Management, reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and plays an integral team role in developing and furthering the brand of the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) among our more than 240,000 alumni and the broader Northeastern community by conducting and using marketing research planing, coordinating and producing marketing campaigns and written communications for alumni in order to maximize outreach and creating a stronger Northeastern community.

The Sr. Associate Director, Brand Management will focus on: (1) Establishing and executing an overall brand strategy for OAR, tying together our multiple engagement offerings, positioning and marketing in a unified manner; (2) Creating and enforcing branding guidelines, in conjunction with our design team, across all of our marketing channels ensuring all materials stay on message and reinforce our brand promise; (3) Working with the OAR team to develop and implement effective omni-channel marketing campaigns for OAR and university events, programs, benefits, and services; (4) Identifying ideas, developing, researching, writing, and editing items such as features, short news pieces, and alumni profiles for websites, email marketing, Northeastern Magazine sections, and printed materials for OAR including sourcing and managing freelancers if needed; (5) Conducting market research—both primary and secondary—to evaluate the perception of the OAR brand among our constituents; (6) Analyzing results of marketing campaigns to convey successes or drive strategic repositioning, if necessary; (7) maintaining communications calendar to track and manage scheduling of outreach to alumni from all areas of the University to ensure proper execution of our integrated marketing strategy; (8) Participate in the hiring, orientation, training, professional development, goal setting, performance appraisal, and general feedback and management of individual team members assigned to the team.

The Sr. Associate Director, Brand Management must represent the university and the OAR team in a professional and enthusiastic manner with a special focus on both internal and external customer service. The Sr. Associate Director, Brand Management must have the ability to speak to audiences of various sizes and in various settings and should be aware of and adaptable to accommodating cultural differences. Evening and weekend work required as needs dictate. Occasional ground and air travel, and a flexible schedule may be required. While the primary role of this position is to focus on marketing and communications, it will require some work with assisting at several OAR events throughout the year and other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree a plus. Minimum of five years or more of marketing, brand management, or public relations experience. Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills are required. Strong research and analytics skills are necessary to identify trends in the marketplace. Knowledge of Salesforce.com, or similar CRM system, and analytics tools, is a plus. The ideal candidate will pay extreme attention to detail, possess strong time management skills, have a high level of self-confidence, creativity, enthusiasm, engagement and self-motivation, along with the energy to undertake diverse responsibilities.

This position also requires an individual who consistently demonstrates an innovative and flexible approach to all facets of his/her work. He/She will have the ability to work independently and in a team environment, juggling multiple projects and priorities at one time. A strong focus on customer service is a must. Experience working in higher education a plus. Familiarity with professional social media and digital media strategy and tools a plus.
