Visiting Assistant Professor - Higher Education (Faculty)

The Department of Higher Education in the School of Education at Syracuse University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin August 2017. We seek candidates who show evidence of a strong academic background and research agenda in higher education and/or student affairs and a demonstrated commitment to access, equity, and social justice in their teaching, research, and service activities. A successful candidate will teach and advise graduate students; establish a research agenda and record of publication; be familiar with graduate student recruitment and job placement processes in higher education and student affairs; and supervise graduate students' field placements. In addition, candidates should possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work collaboratively and engage with a community of diverse students and colleagues.

Applicants should have an earned doctorate in student affairs, student personnel administration, higher education administration, or expect to complete their doctorate before the start of the 2017-2018 academic year. Additional requirements include experience teaching graduate students, evidence of a research agenda and publication record, and participation in national associations related to higher education/student affairs. Experience teaching graduate courses in higher education/student affairs and administrative work experience in higher education/student affairs is highly desirable.
