Assistant/Associate Professor - Sociology
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor’s College of Humanities and Sciences seeks an Assistant / Associate Professor of Sociology for its Social Work, Sociology, and Criminal Justice Department beginning Fall 2017. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.
The Social Work, Sociology, and Criminal Justice Department offers Bachelor of Art and Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree programs in Sociology.

Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching and service to department, college, and university, including curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation; student advising; possible evening and web course development; professional attainment; recruitment and retention activities; and service to the department, college, university, and community. While primarily a teaching institution, UMHB recognizes and rewards research, publication, and other forms of scholarly attainment.
Specific Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in Sociology at both the introductory level and upper level and related courses. The teaching load is 12 - 14 hours per semester undergraduate courses (or the graduate equivalent) with three course preparations.
Qualifications: Doctorate in Sociology is required; ABD will be considered (tenure-track status requires terminal degree in hand). Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential. Must be an active, and committed Christian.
