The Hebrew Division of the Department of Classical and Oriental Studies of Hunter College, City University of New York, invites applications for a Certificate of Continuous Employment-track Lecturer position in Hebrew language instruction, to perform teaching and related faculty functions in area(s) of expertise, including coordination of the program's language-and-literature sequence.

The appointment will begin on September 1, 2017.


Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

Preferred Qualifications

A Masters degree in a field such as Hebrew literature, second language acquisition, linguistics,applied linguistics, or foreign language education, and experience teaching Hebrew at the college level. We are seeking candidates who have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in both Hebrew and English. Evidence of achievement in dynamic and effective language teaching is essential. Experience in the coordination of a language program is strongly preferred.

Compensation is commensurate with experience within the range for this title.
