FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

Teach the Fundamentals of Interpersonal Communication course and one or more of the following courses: Introduction to Film, Introduction to Mass Communication, or Public Speaking. Full-time tenure track Generalist.

QUALIFICATIONS

Instructor:

Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and active progress toward a Doctorate in area(s) of expertise. Persons appointed in the instructor title are only eligible for four (4) annual consecutive reappointments. Appointments to a professorial title subsequent to service as an instructor will only be considered if the candidate has obtained the qualifications for professorial ranks.

Assistant Professor:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Communication, Film or Media Studies required for Assistant Professor title and progress toward Doctorate in these areas for Instructor title. Minimum of 3 years full-time college teaching experience. Experience in instructional technology. Grant writing a plus. Flexible for evening and weekend work. Experience teaching at least one of these additional courses a plus: Oral Interpretation, Small Group Communication, World Cinema, African American and Puerto Rican Rhetoric, or Introduction to Visual Storytelling.

Instructor: $39,399 - $65,267; ($43,503 - $72,065*) *Salary subject to new contract implementation; Fall 2017

Assistant Professor: $42,873 - $81,645; ($47,340 - $90,149*) *Salary subject to new contract implementation; Fall 2017

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
