FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The multidisciplinary Social Science Department at LaGuardia Community College is hiring for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor/Instructor in Economics. The successful candidate is expected to teach introductory economics courses. Teaching interests in Urban Economics, International Economics, Money and Banking and/or Business Statistics are preferred. Faculty members are expected to support departmental, divisional, and college initiatives and to engage in professional development, research, student advisement and scholarly activities.

The successful candidate will perform teaching, research, and guidance duties in the specific area of expertise, and will also share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Assistant Professor:

Ph.D. degree in Economics or equivalent by August 2017. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated engagement in scholarship, and the ability to work with a diverse student population.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand by August 2017.

For Instructor:

Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

The candidate must have teaching experience.
