Becker College is currently seeking a qualified individual for the full-time position of Payroll Administrator. Under the supervision of the Controller, this position performs all activities necessary to process payroll including maintaining related records, filing tax reports and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, overseeing the Payroll module of the Datatel Colleague software in a “super-user” role to troubleshoot general user questions or basic technical issues, reconciling monthly health/dental and life insurance invoices, and, keeping abreast of current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with the processing of employee wage data, including payroll taxes, employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and other required reporting.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and a minimum of 5 years’ of payroll experience required. Experience in analyzing /auditing processes, knowledge of internal controls as they relate to business processes in higher education, ability to work independently and prioritize duties, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and, the ability to maintain objectivity and confidentiality desired.
