Job Summary This position will assist in overseeing and managing greenhouse facilities that support agricultural research programs located in multiple departments. Duties will include germinating/propagating, growing, and maintaining a wide range of plant material for teaching and research. The candidate will be responsible for the irrigation, fertilization requirements, soil and other media preparation, and application of pesticides for disease and insect control (must be able to obtain a commercial pesticide license) needed by the different types of plants. The candidate will need to able to supervise a small staff of student workers. The implementation of routine maintenance, repair, and sanitation as related to the greenhouse operations will be a requirement for this position. The greenhouse facilities operate on a 7 days/week schedule, therefore some weekend and holiday participation will be required. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a BS in an appropriate curriculum; and extensive, responsible experience in greenhouse management including personnel supervision; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be capable of passing the Environmental Protection Agency Pesticide Application Examination.
