Barton College seeks a Director of the Library who is forward thinking, service-oriented, committed to student learning, and experienced in working collaboratively to utilize current information technologies.

The Director candidate should be a creative leader in integrating information fluency throughout the academic curriculum, developing programming that fosters thoughtful intellectual conversation, and utilizing special collections to stimulate quality undergraduate research.
The Director reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and is responsible for the administration of library collections; services for traditional and nontraditional students, faculty, and the local community; personnel, facilities, and the budget. The Director participates in day-to-day operations, including reference and bibliographic instruction, while cultivating relationships with community groups and state and national associations.
Candidates must have excellent communication skills and flexibility to initiate and manage change. Minimum qualifications include a master’s in library science from an ALA-accredited program and experience as a library administrator. The position is a 12-month librarian contract with faculty status. The start date is July 1, 2017.
