STEM Pathway Peer Mentor Coordinator (2 positions)

Job Description Summary:
Title III grant funded position for a peer mentor/coach coordinator who works with the Assistant Dean of Student Career Support and Employer Relations, Associate Dean of Learning Innovation and Teaching, and the career services and Title III grant staff to: 1. coordinate, plan, develop, and deliver a comprehensive peer mentoring program that will support the academic and career goals of all students with a special focus on students participating in the Title III grant, 2. promote services that are culturally competent specifically designed to ensure inclusion and equity for all students, 3. serve as a resource to empower University of La Verne students to develop, solidify, and pursue career-related goals through the completion of career assessments, one-on-one academic advising and counseling, and engagement in meaningful, practical experiences, 4. establish a system to assess students' academic progress towards degree completion, and 5. plan, organize and coordinate activities, trainings and workshops for program initiatives.

Specific Duties:

Peer Mentor Program: Coordinate, plan, develop, and deliver a comprehensive peer mentor curriculum for the University of La Verne. Recruit, train, and supervise undergraduate peer mentors.Coordinate with other departments on campus in the delivery and implementation (Civic and Community Engagement, CDIO, First generation program, University Chaplain, Academic Success Center, Academic Advising, SOAR). Maintain frequent communication with La Verne faculty to provide information, solicit feedback on student progress, and address concerns and issues on the part of faculty and/or students.
Career and Academic Advising:
Empower University of La Verne students to develop, solidify, and pursue career-related goals through the completion of career assessments, one-on-one academic advising and counseling, and engagement in meaningful, practical experiences.
Develop resources for Title III faculty on graduate and professional program pre-requisities and skills needed for student success.
Assessment:
Define learning outcomes for all segments of the academic support program; Measure success of academic program activities to achieve learning outcomes; Report formative and summative assessment results to the Assistant and Associate Dean at established intervals during each program year; Modify activities as needed to meet learning outcomes and program objectives
Budget:
Manage budget for the academic/peer mentor support component of the federal grant including tutor hours and participant travel where appropriate
Attend career, advising, and Title III grant meetings as needed. Serve on university-wide committees as needed. Collaborate with various departments throughout the university.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree is preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 3 years relevant work experience in career services, academic advising, or peer mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent customer service, teamwork, and communication skills.Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, excellent organizational and time management skills.

Location: La Verne Central Campus
