East Stroudsburg University - Assisant V.P.- Institutional Effectiveness, Planning, Assessment
East Stroudsburg University (ESU) is seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Institutional Effectiveness, Planning, & Assessment (IEPA) to oversee institutional data collection, management and coordinate strategic planning and assessment activities of the institution.
Reporting to the Provost, the AVP will facilitate the use of institutional data in campus-wide planning and decision-making. The individual will monitor progress toward achieving institutional goals and compliance with ESU, federal, state, and other agencies' mandates and regulations. This position will coordinate university strategic planning efforts and provide leadership for the evaluation and assessment of educational effectiveness and institutional-related outcomes.
The AVP will oversee the design and conduct of timely research studies in areas related to the institution’s strategic objectives and student learning outcomes, and will work with units in developing a “culture of evidence” including appropriate measures and indicators for assessment. The individual is responsible for interpreting data and information collected by the office and clearly communicating the findings to different levels of audiences. The individual will be responsible for the operation of the IEPA Office which will provide data to external agencies and campus constituencies on topics such as: student recruitment, retention and graduation, faculty workload, and institutional effectiveness. The individual will be expected to oversee the design of data systems that will provide accessible and timely “on-demand” reports regarding enrollment management, student matriculation, graduation, and other topics related to the student experience, faculty workload, and curriculum offerings. The position reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Doctorate in appropriate field is required. Extensive experience in data collection, management, analysis, forecasting and report preparation is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong organizational, project management and facilitation skills are necessary. Demonstrated supervisory experience is required. The applicant should also have experience with strategic planning linked to resource allocation and utilization and higher education outcomes assessment. Must demonstrate an ability to utilize complex statistical formulas and various analytical research methods for problem solving and to effectively communicate findings for general campus use. Must also demonstrate expertise in managing large data bases and using database management software to query and manipulate data. Experience with Banner is preferred.
The individual should also be familiar with statistical packages and common management systems. Must be supportive of and assume an appropriate leadership role in the campus’ commitment to using innovative and high impact practices to achieve student success. Team building skills and an ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff are vital. Experience in a university setting, institutional research, and familiarity with regional and/or specialized accreditation are highly desirable.
