Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, is seeking a talented and experienced Multimedia Producer to create video and other multimedia content that promotes the College and engages internal and external audiences including current and prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and the general public.
Reporting to the Director of Digital Communications, the multimedia producer will be a member of a cohesive, professional team whose mission is to increase the visibility and enhance the reputation of Trinity College through strategic communications.
The successful candidate must be expert in all technical aspects of video production, including lighting, audio, scoring, and editing, as well as in multimedia development and the hardware and software associated with such production. Beyond technical expertise, the multimedia producer must be self-directed and able to work well with students, faculty, and staff; curious; driven to tell good stories; able to prioritize and think strategically; able to both produce content and look at the big picture.

Develop high quality, compelling videos and multimedia projects that convey key stories about faculty, students, alumni, and staff for audiences including prospective students and families, donors, and the general public. This work involves the production of story ideas developed both by the communications office and in service to a wide range of internal clients, including the divisions of enrollment and student success and advancement.
Manage requests for video and multimedia that come into the Office of Communications, and consult with internal clients to make effective determinations in fulfilling their multimedia needs, including those involving strategic storytelling, prioritization of requests, and the use of external vendors.
Proactively pursue creative digital initiatives as part of the Digital Communications group in conjunction with the goals of the Office of Communications.
Support video and multimedia production needs (not including live streaming of events) for sports information team in adherence with its annual video plan.
Train and develop student videographers and editors who can contribute to the college's multimedia storytelling efforts.
Coordinate and consult with Media Technology Services on the recording and/or live streaming of certain campus-wide events and, in general, on strategies to meet the College's evolving video and multimedia needs.
Manage the content and strategy for the College's YouTube and SoundCloud channels.
Strong interpersonal, communications, and customer service skills are required of this position. The multimedia producer must be able to work in close collaboration with members of the Office of Communications as well as partners across the College, vendors, consultants, and other service providers to produce or implement videos or multimedia pieces. The ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty, staff, and other constituents are essential.
Must also have the ability to:
- Convert concepts and story ideas into effective video narratives
- Develop appropriate creative treatments for different topics, audiences, and settings
- Understand issues regarding copyright and permissions and be able to navigate the process for negotiating and obtaining necessary permissions and rights
- Skillfully use equipment related to video production and graphics and editing software (e.g., Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years' experience of professional video production (or a combination of education and experience in audio and video production)
- Experience with producing a variety of digital media including Web, video, podcasts, blogs, social media, and multimedia news releases
- Strong writing and verbal communications skills, and the ability to handle multiple high-priority projects
- Higher education or nonprofit work experience a plus
