Position Summary: Michigan State University's Broad College of Business, Department of Marketing, is seeking a dynamic Assistant Professor or Fixed-Term Instructor for the upcoming academic year to teach required managerial communication courses to first-year MBA students. This individual will ensure that all students develop the leadership-level communications skills that are crucial to success in all functional business areas. The ideal candidate will possess a unique combination of communication, business and hands-on teaching skill sets: (1) Knowledge of the principles and best practices of persuasive oral presentations and written business communication, (2) Knowledge of and experience using the language and analytical frameworks used in the workplace across business functions, (3) Ability to marshal this knowledge and experience to inspire MBA students to strive for continual skill development. Using in-class activities, instruction, and honest constructive feedback; the ideal candidate will coach and mentor students to become skilled oral and written communicators.

Faculty: Minimum Qualifications Support Staff: Minimum Requirements Applicants for the rank of fixed-term Instructor must possess a master's degree, preferably an MBA, from an accredited university. Applicants for the rank of Assistant Professor must have a Ph.D. degree related to managerial communication or relevant business discipline. Candidates must have knowledge of the principles and best practices of persuasive oral presentation and written business communication.

Typing Requirements (wpm):

Desired Qualifications: An ideal candidate will have working knowledge of the strategic frameworks and languages of all the business functions gained through education and work experience, preferably in a mid-level or above position. The candidate will have the ability to coach MBA students through the use of detailed and concrete constructive criticism in a way that inspires students to strive for continual skill development. The ability to teach and coach non-native English speakers to become skilled communicators who are attractive to U.S. employers is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have the demonstrated creativity to achieve pedagogical objectives through learning-by-doing assignments, in-class presentations and feedback sessions. The ideal candidate will have the ability to select and mentor a team of second-year MBA students who are assigned to first-year MBA students as business presentation and writing coaches, and the ability to coach case competition teams.
