The Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is inviting applications for the position of Stroke Medicine Specialist in the Division of Neurology. The position should be eligible for a clinical full-time academic appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto at the rank of Assistant Professor. Expected start date is September 1, 2013 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.
Major responsibilities for this position will include running the daily activities of a 14-bed acute stroke unit in a busy Regional stroke centre. Time on inpatient service will be mutually negotiated but is not expected to be less than six (6) months. Other responsibilities will include the development of a stroke medicine curriculum for trainees in medical school and in cognate specialty programs. In addition to inpatient activity there will be opportunity to participate in outpatient stroke prevention clinics where teaching and research are embedded in the care provided.
The successful candidate must have subspecialty training in internal medicine and/or geriatric medicine and have successfully completed a Stroke Neurology Fellowship. Additional training in Stroke Medicine is an asset. The candidate must hold an MD degree, and be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario.
