Assistant Professor of Art (3-D Artist) - Multiple Campuses
The Department of Media, Culture, & the Arts invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Art (3-D Artist). The successful candidate will possess the ability to teach ceramics, traditional studio sculpture techniques, emergent 3-D media and contemporary practices as well as supportive and core courses inthe College of Arts and Sciences.
·Teaching a 4/4 load (2 studio classes/2 lecture classes per semester)
·Participate in departmental and curriculum development
·Service to the university, department, & community (i.e. committees, senate, boards, etc.)
·Instructional modes may include but are not limited to: face to face, hybrid, online, and multisite classroom instruction
·Instructional times may include but are not limited to: day, evening, night, weekend, and online
·Advising students in timely progression through the art program and maintaining student records
·Maintaining equipment, materials, and classroom budget
·Maintain professional development through exhibitions, panel discussions, and/or academic written discourse
QUALIFICATIONS: Completed MFA in Ceramics, Sculpture, or Installation Art or the equivalent thereof with a terminal degree; demonstrated excellence in teaching on the college level with a minimum of three (3) years teaching experience; a minimum of three (3) years of professional studio practice.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Commitment to innovative pedagogical practices as well as active involvement in scholarly and creative practices; active knowledge in both traditional and digital studio practices; knowledge of current, contemporary discourse in sculpture as well as historical context within the studio practice; ability to work within a community oriented and diverse working environment; strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as time management abilities; possess the ability and sensitivity to work with a diverse student body; ability to effectively advise students in support of retention and graduation efforts in the Art program.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.
