Job Description: The position will assist in the coordination of the learning assistance program for all student-athletes and will serve as the academic coordinator for designated student-athletes. Emphasis will be on the academic development and retention of at-risk student-athletes including those identified with learning disabilities. The primary responsibilities include developing individual academic success plans, tracking student-athlete progress, and serving as a liaison with the Office of Disability Support Services. Some evening work required. Responsibilities: - Develop and implement learning strategies for at-risk student-athletes. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of individual learning strategies. - Provide individual and group instruction related to study skills, time management, note taking, test taking strategies and overall academic success. - Assist with departmental screening/testing process for at-risk student-athletes. - Serve as the tutor program training coordinator. - Promote the development of independent learners. - Provide reports to academic advisors and coaches on student-athletes' progress. - Act as a resource for staff in the areas of learning development, disability information and referral. - Serve as a liaison with the Office of Disability Support Services. - Provide advising and registration services for designated student-athletes. - Assist in the recruiting of student-athletes. - Coordinate study hall, monitor attendance and prepare study hall reports for coaches. - Monitor student academic progress through contact with faculty, meetings with the students and progress report data. - Monitor and track for NCAA, conference and institutional eligibility. -Maintain eligibility and advising files on assigned student athletes. - Be available to work evenings and weekends. - Maintain student confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in special education, school psychology or related field with at least two years of experience working with at-risk students at the secondary or post-secondary level. Experience in diagnostic testing and educational assessment. Experience working with learning disabled students and knowledge of Federal guidelines regarding accommodations for students with disabilities. Must be able to work with a diverse population and within a team atmosphere.
