Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network (UHN) is an Academic Health Science Centre affiliated with the University of Toronto. The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at UHN is seeking to recruit a full-time academic Orthopaedic Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Surgeon. The effective date of this appointment is July 1, 2017 or flexible, tentatively aiming for July 1 st , 2017.

The successful candidate should have a strong academic focus in clinical or translational research as it pertains to arthritis and related disorders of the hip and knee. The candidate will be required to participate in the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto a t the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor as commensurate with qualifications and experience, with an academic job description of Surgeon-Investigator or Surgeon-Scientist, and must be eligible for academic certification with The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

The research program is a multidisciplinary and collaborative program based on an academic/business model hybrid. It is supported by major funding from private donors in addition to traditional peer reviewed funding. It enjoys proven and experienced leadership, both in academia and business and strong commitment from the entire orthopaedic faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to participate and collaborate in the research program, which encompasses basic science research, translational research as well as research in health outcomes and patient centric models of care, using available data capture tools.

This position requires experience in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery. The candidate will be expected to participate in coordinated research projects, as well as demonstrate ability for independent programs. The successful candidate will have an advanced degree in research at the MSc or PhD level. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required.

Salary will be between the range of $200,000.00 - $400,000.00, as well as commensurate with qualifications and experience . Estimate based on fee for service billings.
