Assistant / Associate / Full Professor - Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Requisition Title: Assistant / Associate / Full Professor - Maternal-Fetal Medicine - 1301975
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC), a fully-affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto, provides one of the two Regional Level 3 Perinatal Units in the Greater Toronto Area. We wish to recruit two Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists to our Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to meet the needs of our expanding role in delivering high-risk services. The anticipated start date is May 1, 2014.
Both positions will have academic components and therefore be as clinician-investigators. One position will have a focus on quality improvement (QI) and one position will have a focus on clinical epidemiology and informatics. The positions are suitable for mid-career individuals with an established interest, or newly-qualified individuals from a subspecialty training program in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The Department is located in a recently-opened (2010), state of the art facilities at the Sunnybrook campus, situated in mid-Toronto.
The Department is funded for 4250 deliveries per year, with 28 high-risk pregnancy beds and 48 neonatal intensive care beds. We function as an integral part of the Provincial High Risk Maternal Transfer Program, accepting maternal transfers of high-risk pregnancies from surrounding city hospitals and Central/North East Ontario. Our MFM Division is internationally recognized as a leader in the management of multiple pregnancies and is integrated with the Sunnybrook Research Institute, including the Centre for Maternal Infant and Child Research Unit (CMICR) that is internationally recognized for its expertise in the coordination of multi-centre, randomized controlled trials. The successful candidates will possess excellent clinical and teaching skills for all levels of trainees including fellows in MFM. They will be encouraged to partner with existing research resources based at Sunnybrook, including the Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI) to develop research themes, ideally aligned with clinical interests. The potential for administrative leadership positions within MFM and high-risk Obstetrics is anticipated.
Applicants should be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto; and be eligible for licensure to practice medicine in Ontario. Compensation and Academic Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will be placed in the Hospital Department Practice Plan with a minimum gross annual compensation of $250,000.
Interested individuals should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and the names and addresses of three referees to: Dr. Jon Barrett, Division Head of Maternal Fetal Medicine, 2075 Bayview Ave, M4-172, Toronto, Ontario, M4N 3M5. Phone: +1-416-480-4920, email to email@example.com
The search will remain open until filled.
