Summary Description:

This position is a short-term, hourly, non-bargaining unit position, not to exceed 160 days per Fiscal Year. This advertisement is to create a pool of applications to be used when there is an available opening as a Certified Test Proctor at Irvine Valley College. You will be contacted should the hiring department/division be interested in scheduling an interview with you to discuss your qualifications and skills. Please do not call the Human Resources Office or IVC regarding the status of your application. The most current status of all applications will be available for you to view on our website. This position is open until filled or withdrawn.

Provide customer service to testing candidates, proctor candidate testing and perform administrative and maintenance duties as required at the Authorized Testing Center at Irvine Valley College.    

 

 

Representative Duties and Responsibilities:    

Pass proctor exams required by the testing vendors. Follow the policies and procedures for registration of testing candidates required by test vendors and the college. Follow the policies and procedures for the downloading and proctoring of all tests as required by test vendors and the college. Assist all test candidates in a courteous manner. Solve problems to the benefit of candidate and college. Keep records required by test vendors and college for all tests and testing candidates. Oversee testing security and ensure compliance by candidates to all security and confidentiality policies and procedures. Write and file reports as required. Adhere to all policies regarding personal work scheduling. Maintain the cleanliness of all center equipment and furniture. Keep inventory of all testing center supplies including all required testing forms. Provide information about the testing center to the public, give directions, parking permits, hours. Submit payroll information in a timely manner. Follow all procedures for processing testing center fees. Communicate in a timely manner with test vendors and college technology support to report software or computer issues. Maintain and promote a professional testing center atmosphere for all candidates. Maintain cooperative relationships with all testing candidates and center staff.

 

Knowledge of:    

Principles and practices of good customer service and public relations; the practice of correct English usage, both spoken and written.

Basic record keeping, basic computer skills in word processing and e-mail technology.    

 

Ability to:    

Project an empathetic yet professional attitude toward all testing 

candidates.

Solve problems focusing on good customer service. Treat persons in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner.

Understand spoken and written English; speak and write English fluently using the principles of grammar, pronunciation, spelling and vocabulary. 

Learn and apply computer technology as it relates to the registration, administration and management of tests, e-mail technology and message retrieval.

Work independently and responsibility in the absence of supervision.

Report all communication to center staff and candidates in a timely manner.

Prioritize and complete all tasks assigned.    

 

Education and Experience Guidelines:    

Must have basic word processing and e-mail skills. Have experience in customer or public relations and ability to work with people who are under stress. Must be able to take direction and have good communication skills and ability to make decisions appropriate to the situation.
