JOB SUMMARY:


Serves as a senior communication strategist in the University Relations organization. Leads the work to create and implement strategic communications programs and products on behalf of the Division of Student Affairs designed to keep Clemson students and the University community apprised of critical news, information and initiatives in a clear and timely manner. Ensures maximization and consistency of messaging between Student Affairs and other organizations within Clemson and greater alignment with the university's strategic plan. Performs other duties as assigned.


JOB DUTIES:


50% - Essential - Strategic Planning: Leads the development and implementation of multi-faceted communications strategies on a wide array of Student Affairs initiatives and student issues to enhance the Student Affairs brand and to educate, motivate and influence target audiences that includes senior University leadership, faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents and other interested publics.

20% - Essential - Communication: Uses excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong understanding of all communication technologies, especially social media, to create communication content, news releases, op-eds, letters to the editor, blog posts and website and social media content. Develops, distributes and updates information to be communicated within highly critical time-frames.

20% - Essential - Marketing and Communication Assessment: Assesses all Student Affairs departmental and division level promotional, marketing and communication products and resource allocations to ensure maximum value and effectiveness in meeting intended objectives and promoting positive visibility of Student Affairs.

10% - Essential - Collaboration: Represents Student Affairs to all external audiences as well as senior University administrative and governing bodies. Conducts media training to prepare appropriate Student Affairs staff to supply information to various media outlets.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


A bachelor's degree and experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides Budget Input - Provides input into the budgeting process, and oversees fund allocation.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelors Degree in Communications or a related field and a minimum of five years of professional experience in a combination of the following areas: media, strategic communications, digital communications, and public relations.


WORK SCHEDULE:


Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 07 ($ 48,622.00 - $ 89,956.00)
