Minimum Preferred Qualifications: The University of Alabama College of Education Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities Position: Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) Minimum Qualifications: * Earned doctorate in special education * Evidence of scholarly potential for assistant professor level * To be considered at the assistant level, evidence of scholarly potential through collaboration and participation in research and submitted publications, with the potential eventually to be promoted to associate with tenure. * Three years of teaching experience in PK-12 Preferred Qualifications: * Track record of completed research published or potential to complete research and publish in top-tier journals * Track record of or potential for external funding for research or substantial personnel preparation or service * Expertise in educational diagnoses, working with families, collaboration and consultation, instructional strategies for students with disabilities, behavior management, and educational methods for grades 6-12 * Knowledge of curriculum requirements and trends in the discipline * Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders * Commitment to diversity and excellence in higher education teacher preparation programs * Knowledge of instructional technology applications and distance delivery * Knowledge and skills in classroom and behavior management Responsibilities: * Maintain an active research/publication record * Teach undergraduate and graduate courses * Advise graduate students * Supervise practicum and internship experiences * Work collaboratively with other colleges within the University * Seek external funds * Serve on committees Further information about the program and college is accessible at www.education.ua.edu.
