Position Summary: * Teach general education undergraduate courses in teaching and assessing mathematics, science, social studies for the Multiple Abilities Program * Teach graduate courses * Maintain an active research/publication record and external funding agenda * Direct student research, theses, and dissertations in teacher education * Serve on student and faculty committees * Advise students * Collaborate in further development of innovative undergraduate and graduate programs * Collaborate with local schools and school systems * Provide service within the University, to state and local education agencies, and to relevant professional organizations

Minimum Preferred Qualifications: The University of Alabama College of Education Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities Position: Assistant Professor of Elementary Education K-6 Generalist (Tenure Track) Minimum Qualifications: * Earned doctorate in Elementary Education or closely related field * Minimum 2 years full-time K-6 general education classroom teaching experience * Ability to pursue a research agenda and external funding with evidence of scholarly potential * Ability to teach courses in K-6 methods of teaching and assessing mathematics or science * Ability to teach courses in general elementary education * Demonstrated commitment to diversity * Demonstrated success working in collaborative settings Preferred Qualifications: * Ability to teach methods of teaching and assessing math, science, and social studies * Experience with diverse school contexts * Ability to integrate technology into instruction including web-assisted and other alternative delivery models Responsibilities: * Teach general education undergraduate courses in teaching and assessing mathematics, science, social studies for the Multiple Abilities Program * Teach graduate courses * Maintain an active research/publication record and external funding agenda * Direct student research, theses, and dissertations in teacher education * Serve on student and faculty committees * Advise students * Collaborate in further development of innovative undergraduate and graduate programs * Collaborate with local schools and school systems * Provide service within the University, to state and local education agencies, and to relevant professional organizations Further information about the program and college is accessible at www.education.ua.edu.
