Position: Full-time, twelve month, non-tenure accruing faculty positions (Two positions available)
Date of Expected Hire: August 16, 2017
Responsibilities: The Assistant in Digital Arts and Sciences positions will include responsibilities in the areas of teaching as well as ongoing production and development of digital media to support the Institute's academic, production, and research programs. Instruction includes areas related to the design and implemention of interactive media and digital visualization tools. One position is ideally more focused in design areas, the other in more technical and development areas. The technical-focus position includes coding for game engines and 2D/3D virtual environments; support for development and implementation of interactive digital media software ideally including motion capture, HTML5 and web-based tools, and other emerging technologies. The design-focused position includes work with the Adobe CC tools, and the creation of visual assets and media to support ongoing production related to various institute projects. These positions will also include other related duties as assigned, supporting the academic and/or production needs of the institute. The specifics of the assignment may be subject to change based on the needs of the institute, college or university.
DIGITAL WORLDS INSTITUTE:The Digital Worlds Institute (DW) is an interdisciplinary institute that offers academic and research programs at the intersection of the arts, communications, and technology. Founded in 2001 as a partnership between the College of the Arts and the College of Engineering, DW has grown its initiatives across additional units including the Colleges of Education, Journalism & Communications, and the Health Sciences. DW offers both a graduate and an undergraduate program in Digital Arts & Sciences. By bringing together the diverse talents of UF faculty, students, and staff in a multifaceted collaborative environment, the Institute serves as a platform for interdisciplinary research and teaching that would not have occurred within the confines of any one college or department. Commensurate with qualifications and experience
An MFA or MS degree or professional experience in digital development and/or design.
