Degree and Area of Specialization: Ph.D., in History of Science; History; Science & Technology Studies; or closely related discipline prior to start of appointment required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: Candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence for outstanding research and teaching in their area of specialization.
Position Summary: The College of Letters & Science seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of History of Science with teaching and research interests in history of science, medicine, and technology beginning August 2017. Duties include teaching, conducting scholarly research, and performing appropriate university and professional service.
Additional Information: We are especially interested in applications in the following areas: (1) history of science or technology before 1800; (2) history of the human sciences; or (3) history of information technologies. We are also interested in applicants whose area of study lies outside the United States. We are open to a variety of disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and methodological approaches. We are particularly interested in candidates who can promote interdisciplinary synergies between the HSMT program and other study programs in the Department of History; the Holtz Center for Science & Technology Studies; and/or other programs in the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences.
