The University of Florida's College of Medicine invites applications for the position of Associate Dean and Director of the School of Physician Assistant Studies. The director will play a central role in providing leadership and oversight of the academic, financial and administrative activities of the School of Physician Assistant Studies. The director, who reports directly to the dean of the College of Medicine, has a unique and outstanding opportunity to sustain and further develop the already excellent education and clinical service missions of the School and their integration with the overall strategic goals of the College of Medicine.
The School of Physician Assistant Studies is a continuous twenty-four month, full-time graduate-level educational program that enrolls 120 total students, 60 students per class, leading to the awarding of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree. The School of Physician Assistant Studies, currently employs eight principal faculty members and is fully accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant ARC-PA. The director will be responsible for providing effective leadership in assisting the school to excel in its missions of education, clinical care, research, and service including national prominence in the field of physician assistant education. This includes;
- developing a vision and implementing a strategy to strengthen and grow the existing culture of scholarly excellence in education and clinical service,
- recruiting, mentoring, supporting and maintaining a high quality faculty,
- matriculating a diverse and academically outstanding student body,
- nurturing and educating students to attain a high level of academic achievement and
- maintaining accreditation of the School through the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
The successful candidate must possess a graduate-level degree, be licensed or eligible for licensure as a physician assistant in the state of Florida, hold current NCCPA certification, and possess at least 3-5 years of academic administrative leadership experience. The director will be appointed as a member of the University of Florida faculty at the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Faculty rank and tenure track will be dependent upon the selected candidate's experience and interests. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
