The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) at the University of Florida (UF) is seeking to make multiple hires at the Associate or Full Professor level with broad interests in the area of Informatics. These hires are being made in conjunction with the establishment of the UF Informatics Institute, which is a campus-wide Institute to explore fundamental new opportunities in research resulting from the exponential growth of data and computation across all human activity. Informatics faculty in CLAS are being recruited to the Institute in four interrelated areas: Biomedical and Life Sciences, Engineered Systems and the Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education, and Informatics Techniques and Technologies.

Desired areas of expertise include biological and medical informatics, computational statistics, complex systems and multi-scale phenomena, collaborative analysis of massive data sets, large-scale modeling and simulation, data visualization, sensor data analysis, machine learning and topological data analysis, statistical analysis of digitized historical and public records, as well as data analytics in e-learning, the social sciences and the humanities. This list is not exhaustive, and applicants having research interests in other fields related to big data and informatics are encouraged to apply. New hires will be appointed full-time within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and be affiliated with specific departments that will serve as their tenure home. Furthermore, they will be expected to engage in a broadly collaborative program including researchers in the Colleges of Engineering, Medicine, Health Professions and Public Health, Nursing, Agriculture and Life Sciences, Education, and the Florida Museum of Natural History.

Advertised Salary:

Minimum Requirements:

The positions require a Ph.D. degree in the natural sciences, mathematics, statistics, the social sciences, or any related field.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Successful candidates for these positions in CLAS will have a proven track record of publications in top journals, along with an independently established research program with significant evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding.
