Job Summary: POSITION: The University of Georgia College of Family and Consumer Sciences is seeking applications from an engaging and experienced dietitian to provide instruction and direct the Didactic Program in Dietetics. This position is Clinical Associate Professor (90% Teaching and 10% Research), 12-month fiscal year appointment, non-tenure track in the Department of Foods and Nutrition. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Director of the Foods and Nutrition Didactic Program on Dietetics (DPD) program; o Provide leadership and serve on all departmental committees responsible for establishing goals, objectives and policies for the DPD; o Provide leadership for innovative curriculum development to meet the needs of students and the education standards of the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (ACEND) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND); o Serve as the faculty mentor for dietetics majors, post-baccalaureate students and the Student Dietetic Association; o Prepare all students for competitive applications for post-graduate internships required for their registration as RDs; o Develop and lead recruitment and marketing plans for dietetics program; o Monitor program and conduct program evaluation on an ongoing basis; o Maintain all records pertinent to management of DPD; o Prepare and submit annual self-study reports to AND; and o Work to ensure sustained accreditation of the program and professional success of our graduates including acceptance into dietetic internships. * Teach dietetic courses and document and maintain student learning outcomes assessment for dietetic courses; * Coordinate and monitor dietetic practicums for undergraduate students; * Engage in scholarly research endeavors; * Engage in endeavors related to dietetics and be active professionally at the state and national level; and * Active in college and UGA service-related activities REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in a nutrition-related field and be a Registered Dietitian. Must have a minimum of 3 years professional experience post-credentialing. Must have one year experience teaching nutrition and/or dietetics related courses and have authored or co-authored at least 3 peer-reviewed journal articles. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate should have strong written and verbal communications skills. Experience mentoring students. THE UNIVERSITY AND THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Foods and Nutrition is a unit of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. The Department has 25 faculty and 400 undergraduate students majoring in Consumer Foods, Dietetics, and Nutritional Sciences as well as 30 graduate students. The Department has a nationally accredited undergraduate dietetics program that prepares students for a post-graduate internship required to become a registered dietitian. In addition, the department has an accredited combined master's degree and dietetic internship program which prepares students to become registered dietitians in addition to completing the requirements for a graduate degree.
