Information The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Sacramento State has 26 full-time and part-time faculty members serving more than 800 undergraduates and 30 graduate students. Our department offers a Master of Arts in Spanish, undergraduate majors in Spanish and French, minors in Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, and also offers language classes in Korean and Punjabi. Our undergraduate programs are designed to provide students the opportunity to learn about foreign languages, literatures and cultures, to broaden cultural understanding, increase language proficiency, and enable them to communicate successfully both in a pluralistic American society and abroad.

Duties/Responsibilities - Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in Spanish language, Spanish
Peninsular Literature, and Spanish Peninsular Culture.
- Engage in scholarly activities in Spanish Peninsular Literature and/or Spanish Peninsular
Culture.
- Advise students and supervise undergraduate student research.
- Provide service to the department, college, campus, and community. Qualifications REQUIRED:

- Ph.D. in Spanish Peninsular Literature in hand by 12/1/2016. Generalist acceptable.
- Native or near native fluency in both Spanish and English.
- Evidence of teaching excellence or potential for teaching excellence at all levels of Spanish
language instruction.
- Interest in and the ability to conduct scholarly or applied research in Spanish Peninsular
Literature and/or Spanish Peninsular Culture.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student body and community.

PREFERRED:

- Prior teaching experience at the college/university level.
- Interest or experience in developing and teaching online courses.
- Interest or experience in course coordination and supervision.
- Interest or experience in the fields of translation/interpretation. Appointment This is a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning with the Fall 2017 semester. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and professional experience.
