Job Summary: The Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia invites applications for a Public Service Faculty position within the State Services and Decision Support Division's State Services Unit. The person in this position will serve as a faculty member responsible for providing technical assistance and agency specific training programs for state agencies, with particular focus on agency and client needs in the health and human services. The position will be available December 1, 2016 and carries rank in the public service faculty career ladder at the University.
Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree or equivalent in public administration, business administration, sociology, social work, adult education, or related field is required. PhD or equivalent is preferred. The successful candidate must possess strong knowledge and experience managing state funded programs in Georgia, securing and managing state contracts, providing large scale project management, and conducting process improvement. Experience managing client relationships within state government and supervising diverse work teams to include performance management and evaluation, coaching, and development is required. This position will report directly to the State Services Unit Director and will spend considerable time working directly with state and local officials, both elected, appointed, and staff. Thus, it is critical that the candidate possess the desire, ability, and experience to interact in a very positive and supportive manner with these important clients of the Institute.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be expected to work as part of a team on technical assistance and service delivery with specific emphasis in the areas of program delivery and organizational excellence in the health and human service and social safety net programs. The position involves consulting with local government officials, non-profits, and private groups; and preparing contracts, reports, and other publications that address practitioner/policymaker needs.
