Duties: The Harrison Surgical Scholar program was established to provide clinical research experience for post-baccalaureate students who are interested in pursuing an academic career in medicine. It is a one year funded position that will expose the individual to all aspects of clinical surgical research. The scholars will work closely with surgical research team or individual surgeon to assist in ongoing and/or new clinical research investigations.
The researcher will have the opportunity to be involved in every part of the research process, from study design, IRB submission and data collection to data analysis and manuscript publication. Research will be involved in submitting IRB proposals and editing manuscripts for peer reviewed medical journals. May have the opportunity to write a scientific paper and be credited as first author. The research specialist is expected to participate in and perform experiments, functional and data analysis, data presentation and filing.
This is a one-year position with a specified end fate of 6/30/17.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 0-1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Persons interested should have good writing and communication skills. Must be able to work as part of a team but also function with a high level of independence.
