Duties: In a molecular biology laboratory, identify and characterize novel components required for archaeal biofilm formation. In collaboration with the PI, design experiments, collect data and analyze the data. Use of molecular biological techniques which include PCR, cloning, sequencing, transposon mutagenesis, DNA purification. Genetic and biochemical techniques which include western blot analysis, protein purification, sample preparation for mass spectrometry analysis as well as electron microscopic techniques which include light microscopy, electron microscopy, phase contrast microscopy. Present the data approximately once every 6 weeks in lab meetings as well as once a year at a national scientific meeting. Lab management: order chemicals, waste management, supervise dishwasher.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related field and 0 to 1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 2 years of experience are preferred.
